The purpose of the project was to design a channel with a capacity of 50 m3/s, which would form Section No. 13 of the water infrastructures included in the transfers authorised under Art. 13 of the National Water Plan Act [Act 10/2001 of 5 July 2001]. Section No. 13 is 11,465 m long, of which 6,861 m consists of self-supporting channel, transitions and beacons, 1,063 m tunnels, 2,727 m siphons and siphon-holders and 814 aqueducts.
